A political pressure group affiliated to former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola has accused the Federal Government of breaching financial regulations by channeling local government allocations to "illegal" council chairmen aligned with the All Progressives Congress, urging an immediate freeze on the funds amid ongoing court disputes over their legitimacy.

Omoluabi Progressives, led by chairman Isha Adesiji, issued the statement Monday, warning the 2022-elected officials—installed under ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and later challenged—to avoid touching the six-month disbursements. "This is a gross violation; funds cannot go to individuals," Adesiji said at a press briefing, calling for an Independent Corrupt Practices Commission probe and labeling the move a "political war chest" to bankroll APC interests.

The group claimed the Federal Government is withholding payments from Governor Ademola Adeleke's Peoples Democratic Party executives while propping up a "disbanded" set reinstated by a "controversial" appellate decision. "It's a war on the constitution and Osun people," Adesiji asserted, appealing to civil society, unions, and professional bodies to counter "creeping authoritarianism" that disregards judgments.

Osun APC spokesman Kola Olabisi dismissed the outcry as "belated and attention-seeking," defending the February 10, 2025, Court of Appeal ruling as validating their positions. "Omoluabi should revive the African Democratic Congress instead of meddling," he retorted, questioning the group's timing and bias toward PDP.

The dispute revives 2022 election fallout, where Adeleke's win prompted LG dissolution and APC-favored reruns now mired in litigation. With Osun's FAAC share in play, the friction threatens a constitutional standoff, as calls grow for judicial intervention to clarify funding flows in Nigeria's federal-state tussle.
